WELCOME TO "THE CHILD VISIT MONITOR"

The Child Visit Monitor provides professional monitoring of court ordered supervised child visitations and supervision of child exchanges between parents in the Santa Clara County areas.

What is a Supervised Visitation Monitor?

As a non-partisan observer, a supervised visitation monitor, works as a neutral third party with family law attorneys, social workers and individuals to enforce the conditions of the court order relating to the days, hours, location and other details of the visitations.   Monitors observe the behavior and interactions between non-custodial parents and their child(ren) in an objective and neutral manner within a safe and secure environment so that all parties can enjoy the child-parent visitations.

Every reasonable effort is made by The Child Visit Monitor to ensure the safety of the child(ren). After safety is assured the paramount consideration is for the best interest of the child. Protecting the child is the Monitor’s primary directive.

How Does it Work?

Step 1 – Prepare for the Intake Interview

Custodial and Non-Custodial Parents Must:

  • Contact The Child Visit Monitor to schedule an intake meeting to discuss specific needs.

  • Complete an intake interview with the monitor prior to the first visitation.

  • Provide specific documentation related to the court order to The Child Visit Monitor.

Step 2 –Intake Interview

Both parents are required to attend a separate interview where:

  • Guidelines will be reviewed.

  • An agreement is completed between the Monitor and each parent.

  • Schedule times and locations for the visitations are established.

  • Fees options and method of payment is confirmed.

Step 3 – During the visitations

  • Monitor observes and enforces guidelines.

  • Parent and child(ren) have an enjoyable and safe time.

  •  A written record for each visit is documented and available upon request at the standard rate for reports.

What is the Purpose?

Both Supervised Visits and Supervised Exchanges are designed to assure that a child can have safe contact with an absent parent without having to be put in the middle of the parents’ conflicts or other problems.

It is a tool that can help families as they go through difficult and/or transitional times.

Some of the benefits of Supervised Child Visits for the various family members are as follows:

For the children:

  • It allows the children to maintain a relationship with both of their parents, an important factor in the positive adjustment to family dissolution.

  • It allows them to anticipate the visits without stress of worrying about what is going to happen and to enjoy the visit in a safe and comfortable environment.

For the custodial parents:

  • You do not have to communicate or have contact with a person with whom you are in conflict.  The arrangements can be made by a neutral party, The Child Visit Monitor.

  • You can relax and feel comfortable allowing your child to have contact with the other parent and can get some valuable time to yourself.

For the non-custodial parents:

  • You can be sure that your contact with your children does not have to be interrupted regardless of any personal problems you may be having.

  • If allegations have been made against you, you can visit without fear of any new accusations because there is someone present who can verify what happened during your time with your child(ren).  When using a professional service, you can be assured that the Monitor is neutral and objective.
